Losing is always tough but the manner of Salford Red Devils’ defeat to St Helens yesterday will have concerned coach Paul Rowley.
Rowley’s side were leading 12-0 until they imploded in the second half making some unforgivable errors as they gave the Super League and World Champions command of the game.
So could it be tough for Salford get up for their Challenge Cup clash against Huddersfield Giants?
According to Paul Rowley that won’t be a problem but injuries will be.
He said on Channel 4: “No problem getting this side up and we saw the character of the team in the fact Saints didn’t score more points, the problem is the bodies and that is always the problem.”
The Red Devils lost Andy Ackers and Shane Wright who are likely to miss next week.
This is on top of Ken Sio and Tim Lafai who are injured. Sio picked up an injury due to a pothole on the club’s training pitch.
Rowley said the club are now in a “dark place” in terms of injuries:
“Saints have a good squad and we have a good team.
“We’re in a bit of a dark place now.”
