It has been announced that Hull KR have released Frankie Halton from his contract today so he can take up an opportunity with Leigh Leopards on a two and a half year deal.

However, the Robins have already replaced Halton it seems.

Not only did they recall Luis Johnson from his loan spell at Castleford Tigers yesterday which certainly lessens the blow but they also announced the signing of AJ Wallace from Bradford Bulls on Saturday and coach Willie Peters is very excited by the prospect of having the former Leeds Rhinos academy product in their ranks.

“I’m really pleased with that. A player like AJ had a couple of other clubs looking at him as well,” he said.

“He’s a player who has proven himself down in the Championship which is a tough and highly competitive comp, so to go there at a young and play and prove yourself against grown men is great.

“The exciting part is that he hasn’t been in a full-time environment so you look at his body and look at what he can do, his athletic movements and then you put it in a full-time environment. I’m pretty sure we’ll see a spike pretty quick in terms of his development.

“He’s similar to Phoenix though as there’s no rush, you need to develop them properly. If you put them in too early they can get spat out just as quick.

“The plan is to develop him slowly, drip feed him into the first team but I’m excited for AJ to see what he can do next year.”
