Catalans Dragons have announced the signing of Tiaki Chan’s first professional contract who has signed a one-year deal.

The young prop, 22, joined the Dragons’ training squad last season. Alex Chan’ son and Joe Chan’s brother played his first Super League game last July against Leeds Rhinos. He made 3 appearances with Catalans Dragons in 2022.

This comes after his brother signed a deal in the NRL with Melbourne Storm.

Tiaki Chan said : “I am very proud to get my first professional contract. I am ready to do everything to earn a spot in the squad and to have the opportunity to play in Super League. I am now looking forward to start the 2023 season.”

Steve McNamara said : “Tiaki has worked extremely hard to get this full time opportunity. His energy and all action style will again add strength to our playing group.”

The Dragons are still interested in signing two further players for 2023.

The French side want a prop after allowing Dylan Napa to leave but have unfortunately missed out on bringing former Salford Red Devils and Warrington Wolves prop Ben Murdoch-Masila back to Super League.

The former New Zealand Warriors forward has instead joined St George Illawarra Dragons for 2023.

The Dragons also missed out on Featherstone Rovers centre Joey Leilua as they look to replace Wakefield Trinity signing Samisoni Langi and Dean Whare.
