Super League side announce signing of Australian international

Super League signing Nick Cotric

Although the Super League season is currently on hiatus for the international break, transfer activity shows no sign of slowing down, as sides look to put their plans for 2025 into action.

While the international break is only two days old, sides are already announcing big deals for next season. Yesterday, it was announced that Cam Scott would join Wakefield Trinity from Hull FC, following in the footsteps of Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken in moving to the West Yorkshire side.

Earlier today, Leigh Leopards announced the capture of David Armstrong from NRL side, Newcastle Knights. Confirmation of the move puts to bed one of the longest running transfer sagas in Super League, with Armstrong being linked with a move to Leigh for several months.

Now, another Super League has joined Leigh in raiding the NRL, announcing a major deal for the 2025 season.

The Catalans Dragons are in the midst of a major reshuffle of their back division, with both wingers Johnstone and Tom Davies leaving the club at the end of the season. The Dragons have already filled one vacancy, with the signing of Tommy Makinson from St Helens for 2025. Now they have moved to fill the other vacant wing spot.

In a statement posted on the club’s website, the Dragons confirmed the capture of Nick Cotric from the Canberra Raiders for the 2025 season. Cotric joins Les Dracs on a three-year deal, which will run until the end of 2025. The statement confirming the deal read:

“Catalans Dragons are delighted to announce the signing of Nick Cotric from the 2025 season.

“The Australian winger, who currently plays for Canberra Raiders, has signed a three-year deal with the club.

Speaking upon confirmation of the deal, Nick Cotric stated his excitement at pulling on the Catalans jersey. Cotric said:

“I can’t wait to put the jersey on and go hard with the boys. I’m excited to make new memories and play for a great club and team. Allez les Dragons!”

Catalans head coach, Steve McNamara, believes Cotric’s versatility and experience will provide a big lift to the Dragons squad. McNamara stated:

“Nick is an extremely exciting signing for our club. Capable of playing both wing and centre. He is a player who breaks tackles and is blessed with genuine speed. For a young man he has huge experience and we look forward to him having a huge impact on our team.”
