Super League side amend squad to face Hull FC after new signing

Hull FC

Catalans Dragons have amended their squad to take on Hull FC tomorrow with the French side adding new recruit Jarrod Wallace following his arrival from Australia.

Steve McNamara’s side are looking for a return to winning ways after losing to Castleford Tigers last weekend and a home game against lowly Hull FC could be just the trick.

At the Stade Gilbert Brutus, Catalans have won eight of their ten games which marks one of the best home records across Super League. Meanwhile, opponents Hull FC are yet to win on the road and have lost all nine, conceding 32 points per game.

Their chances of victory have now been boosted even further after confirming that new signing Jarrod Wallace will be eligible to feature in the game after the club added him to their provisional 20-man squad that was named yesterday.

Wallace will join Sam Tomkins in Catalans Dragons squad after the Englishman came out of retirement to play the remainder of the season with the French side.

He will return to the field for the first time in over nine months if he plays tomorrow with his final appearance being in the Grand Final loss to Wigan Warriors.

With half-back Jordan Abdull not in the squad then there’s a chance that Tomkins could play in the halves but more likely is the fact he’ll play full-back with Arthur Mourgue moving into the halves with Theo Fages.

Catalans forward pack will be bolstered by the inclusion of Wallace who is a lade addition, something that would ordinarily cost a club an interchange but that’s not the case in this situation.

The RFL have confirmed to Serious About Rugby League that when Catalans announced their 20-man squad, one shorter than allowed, they did so with the provision that Jarrod Wallace was a named 21st man should he be registered in time.

That has happened which means the prop has been included and allocated the squad number 33.

A statement from the club confirmed: The staff have made a change in the Catalans Dragons’ squad to face Hull FC in the Super League Round 19.

“Jarrod Wallace has been added in the 21-Man squad to face Hull FC on Saturday, July 27th, kick-off at 7pm CET at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium.”
