Super League set for Merseyside party as record-breaking figures for Magic Weekend ticket sales revealed

The latest ticket sales for Magic Weekend have been confirmed, in what is now the fastest-selling event in it’s history.

As the venue switched from Newcastle’s St James’ Park to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, that change has been a huge success at first glance, with ticket sales flying since sales went live last month.

With just over five months to go, sales are approaching a huge 50,000, and that means it is the biggest take-up in tickets for the two-day event since it’s inception, which started in Cardiff in 2007.

The RFL have confirmed that the lower bowl section of the stadium is fully sold out for Sunday’s fixtures, where Wakefield Trinity, Castleford Tigers, Leeds Rhinos, Bradford Bulls, Wigan Warriors and St Helens will all be in action.

Hospitality sales have reached over 60%, whilst there are only very few tickets left for the lower bowl for Saturday’s action.

Rugby league’s first trip to Everton saw England take on Australia in the second Test of the Ashes series, and whilst the home nation may have lost, it was still a huge success off the pitch, with the attendance selling out and reaching it’s full 52,,000+ capacity.

Commenting on the sales, RL Commercial’s Director of Marketing and Communications Joe Steel said: “There’s a clear excitement about taking one of the biggest dates in the rugby league calendar to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium – and it’s brilliant to see supporters responding in this way.

“We’re hoping it will be the biggest and best Magic WKND yet with all the ingredients there to make for an absorbing and enthralling two days of action.

“There’s a full festival experience waiting for fans to enjoy – on and off the pitch.

“Plenty of supporters who witnessed the Ashes Test match at Everton in November were amazed by the world-class venue. And Super League is looking forward to being the next to take the stage.”
