Super League semi-final team news as Wigan Warriors and Wakefield Trinity confirm squads

Wigan Warriors and Wakefield Trinity have named their preliminary matchday squads for Saturday’s blockbuster Betfred Super League Play-Off semi-final at The Brick Community Stadium.

A place in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford awaits the winner, with Wigan aiming to complete their hunt for silverware while Wakefield Trinity aim to reach their first-ever Grand Final following a historic 2026 campaign.

Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet has named a powerful 21-man squad, boosted by crucial fitness updates heading into the semi-final clash.

Meanwhile, Wakefield Trinity boss Daryl Powell has named a 20-man squad for the trip to Wigan following major disciplinary decisions and crucial injury boosts.

Here are the confirmed squad lists and detailed selection news for both clubs ahead of Saturday’s clash:

Wigan handed double injury boost as Wardle and Farrimond return

Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet has made two key changes to his 21-man squad from the team that beat Catalans Dragons in Round 27.

Headlining the additions is star centre Jake Wardle, who overcomes a recent injury issue to return to contention for the play-off opener.

Joining Wardle is young half-back Jack Farrimond, who returns after being sidelined with a severe hamstring injury.

The returning pair replace Sam Eseh Jr and Josh Cartwright from the Round 27 group.

Suspensions and injury returns dictate Wakefield squad selection

Wakefield Trinity have opted to name just a 20-man squad for the semi-final following several roster adjustments coming out of their gritty 26-16 Eliminator victory over Leigh Leopards.

Prop Emre Guler misses out after seeing his season come to an abrupt end. Following an appeal, Guler had his suspension for punching increased to three matches after being sent off in the final 20 minutes against Leigh, leaving Powell without the forward for the rest of the campaign.

However, Trinity have been handed timely fitness boosts elsewhere. Outside back Josh Rourke has overcome a knee injury to return to contention, while winger Jayden Myers is back in the 20-man group after passing his head injury protocols following a concussion.

With Rourke and Myers returning to the fold, youngsters Jordan Williams and Kian McGann drop out of the preliminary squad selection.
