Super League round five referee appointments including Hull FC v Leeds Rhinos amid return of elite official

Super League referee Chris Kendall

The referee appointments for round five of Super League have been made where the standout fixture sees Leeds Rhinos travel to face Hull FC.

Both clubs will be reeling after being knocked out of the Challenge Cup with the defeat marking the fourth consecutive loss for Hull FC, who sit low on the Super League table.

That game comes on Sunday but before then we’ve got Wigan Warriors hosting York Knights on Thursday night, as well as a trio of games on Friday including Toulouse Olympique v St Helens, Bradford Bulls v Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity v Leigh Leopards.

Saturday then sees Warrington Wolves host Castleford Tigers in a match that is free-to-air on the BBC with the evening kick-off seeing Catalans Dragons host Hull KR.

Who are this week’s Super League referees?

The referees and video referee for each game have been confirmed and there’s a first Super League appearance this year for elite official Chris Kendall, who has missed out so far through injury.

Kendall has worked as a video referee but he’ll take to the field for the first time this week, officiating Wakefield’s clash with Leigh. Liam Moore will work that game as the video referee.

Marcus Griffiths takes charge of Wigan versus York with Liam Rush in support, whilst it’s Tom Grant and Jack Smith who make the trip to Toulouse for the St Helens game as referee and video referee, respectively.

Aaron Moore takes charge of Bradford Bulls versus Huddersfield with James Vella supporting. Moore will then serve as the video referee for Warrington Wolves’ meeting with Castleford on Saturday, where Liam Rush takes charge.

Jack Smith officiates Catalans versus Hull KR with Tom Grant in support, the pair reversing their roles that they undertake on Friday night in Toulouse. The round concludes with Liam Moore in charge of Hull FC versus Leeds Rhinos, supported by Chris Kendall as video referee.
