Super League prop makes immediate loan move

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that Daniel Smith has joined Featherstone Rovers on a two-week loan deal.

Smith has featured 5 times for the Tigers this season, four from the bench with one start and will link up with Rovers with immediate effect.

Smith has been a key forward for the Tigers in recent years but has been given the opportunity to earn game time elsewhere over the next two weeks.

He started his career at Leeds Rhinos but never played for the first team before a spell at Huddersfield Giants prior to moving to the Jungle.

He is the older brother of Rhinos loose-forward Cameron Smith.

Recently Andy Last has spoken about the club’s approach to the transfer market:

“I think you never say never. We have an eye on the market, loan players and if someone becomes available who we think can really help us then we would look to make a move but at this moment it is this group.

“They are not playing as well as they can at the minute.”

Last recently was awarded a two and a half year deal as the club’s head coach and is beginning to put his stamp on things.
