Wigan Warriors remain the favourites to retain the Super League crown this season. That’s according to the bookmakers and given Matty Peet’s side sit four points clear at the top of the Super League table at present, it won’t come as much of a surprise to learn they are the favourites.
The Cherry and Whites brought an end to four years of St Helens dominance last time around as they saw off Catalans Dragons 10-2 at Old Trafford. They still have 11 games left to play over the regular Super League season, with a game in hand on their rivals, but even at this stage few would be betting against them being victorious once more come October.
They’ve lost just two games all season and Betfred has them at 8/11 to win the competition in the autumn. St Helens are seen as second favourite right now and that’s despite them being six points behind the pace Wigan are setting at the top of the division.
Paul Wellens’ side have struggled with injuries of late and consequently they have lost their last three Super League outings. However, at the time of writing they are second favourites for Grand Final success with odds being offered as short as 3/1.
Warrington Wolves are second at present but they’re 8/1 with Betfred to get their hands on silverware. In four attempts Wire have never won a Grand Final and their lengthy odds may be a case of history working against them.
Hull KR, who have never reached a Super League Grand Final, are at 9/1 to win the title, while Catalans Dragons, who have lost two of the last three, are priced at 10/1.
Leeds Rhinos are currently four points short of the play-off places, but the arrival of Brad Arthur has given supporters hope they can find the late form required to squeeze into the top six and enter the lottery of the play-offs. They’re at 50/1 to win the competition outright.
Betfred are offering odds of 500/1 for Huddersfield Giants, who are without a head coach and find themselves in ninth, but the bottom three of Castleford Tigers, Hull FC and London Broncos look set in the eyes of Betfred.
