Super League Player of the Month nominees including Mikey Lewis, Wigan Warriors youngster and Leeds Rhinos star

The month of March saw many Super League players step up, be that due to the tries they scored, efforts they put in or impression they made on arrival to the competition.

As a result, six players have been nominated for the Player of the Month award, with six different teams being represented.

Maika Sivo won the award in February following his six tries in two matches (two against York and four against Hull KR), and he is one of the nominations for March as well after continuing that form into the subsequent rounds.

Wakefield Trinity, Hull KR and Hull FC also have players nominated, whilst players from Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves round out the selections.

Super League March Player of the Month nominees

Maika Sivo (Leeds Rhinos)

The Fijian continued his impressive try-scoring streak from February into March, and he ended up crossing for two hat-tricks, both against Castleford Tigers and Warrington Wolves.

Having grabbed the award in February, the Leeds winger is in with a chance for back-to-back honours should the Super League faithful elect him.

Oli Pratt (Wakefield Trinity)

The second of three wingers in the nominations, Trinity had an incredibly impressive March, not losing a game in either league or cup.

Pratt’s try-scoring ability had a huge say in some of those games, particularly with his scores in games against Hull FC and Leeds, albeit in the Cup, changing the momentum of the game as he crossed just before half-time.

The Trinity number two scored five tries in four games across March, and has had an incredible start to the season.

Josh Thewlis (Warrington Wolves)

Rounding out the wing selections, Thewlis has actually been nominated for efforts both on the flank and at full-back.

Replacing Cai Taylor-Wray after his injury early in the month, Thewlis has taken to the number one role with ease, highlighting his versatility.

With Taylor-Wray set to return this week, Thewlis is expected to return to the wing in the place of Australian speedster Josh Smith.

Noah Hodkinson (Wigan Warriors)

Making his Warriors debut against Bradford in the Challenge Cup, Hodkinson’s first two Super League games have seen him nominated for the monthly award, highlighting what a special talent he is.

In defeat to Huddersfield, he was one of Wigan’s best and if not for two try-saving tackles the home side could have found themselves even further behind at half-time.

Jai Field’s return suggests limited opportunity for Hodkinson, but one this is for certain – Wigan have unveiled another huge prospect from their academy side, and the full-back is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Mikey Lewis (Hull KR)

Scoring five tries and picking up four assists, 2024’s Super League Man of Steel Lewis is nominated, and has been an integral part to Hull KR’s upturn in form over the past fortnight.

An in-form Lewis is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players to watch in the competition, and he will be hoping to continue his efforts this week and send the Robins to another Challenge Cup semi-final.

John Asiata (Hull FC)

Injured in the Good Friday derby, Asiata is by far Hull FC’s most influential player, with their performances with him in the side incredibly different to when he is out of it.

The club have yet to confirm the extent of his injury, but it seems FC will be without him for the long-term, in what is a damaging blow after the news came this week that John Cartwright would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

In the three Super League games he played in March, Asiata averaged over 125m from 21 carries, whilst in defence he averaged 28 tackles.
