Super League pair develop lead in Man of Steel race after round three

Super League Man of Steel

The Super League Man of Steel points are in from round three and two players have built up a lead at the top of the leaderboard.

Jake Connor secured maximum points on Sunday for his efforts in Leeds Rhinos’ 38-24 win over Castleford Tigers at Headingley. The full-back claimed a try and two assists on the day and that ensures he currently has six points to his name in the Man of Steel race.

Umyla Hanley of Leigh Leopards is the only man able to match that tally over the opening three rounds, with the centre scoring a hat-trick in the win over Catalans Dragons on Friday night. Hanley has caught the eye with the Leopards this season and he was undoubtedly the star man at Leigh Sports Village with Ethan O’Neill and Lachlan Lam also earning points.

The pair now sit at the top of the leaderboard, two points clear of their competition after another impressive week.

Elsewhere, Danny Richardson picked up three points for his performance against Salford Red Devils after stepping into the Hull KR fold following Mikey Lewis’ injury. Herman Ese’ese was the star man at the John Smith’s Stadium as Hull FC edged out Huddersfield Giants on Friday night.

Daryl Clark scored for St Helens in the win over Wakefield Trinity on Saturday and he has been awarded maximum Man of Steel points, with Harry Robertson and Mark Percival sharing out the other three points on offer.

And, in Las Vegas, Junior Nsemba was deemed to be Wigan Warriors’ star man as they swept aside Warrington Wolves. Bevan French and Jai Field also picked up points from that win, with the latter one of five players on four points for the season now, alongside Aidan Sezer, Matt Dufty, Ethan O’Neill and Ash Handley.
