Super League side Catalans Dragons have confirmed that forward Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui has left the club with immediate effect.
Fa’asuamaleaui, who, alongside Toby Sexton, was set to leave the Dragons at the end of the season to join Perth Bears, will return home to Australia after making just 10 appearances for the club.
The French outfit have cited family reasons as the circumstances for his exit, and the news comes shortly after Iszac’s brother, Tino, has revealed that their father is currently battling cancer.
The 24-year-old last played for the club at the beginning of May, in the 33-18 defeat to Leigh Leopards.
A statement released by the Dragons reads in full:
“Catalans Dragons can confirm Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui will be released from the remainder of his contract with immediate effect for family reasons.
“The Australian prop arrived at the club this season on a one-year contract and made 10 appearances for the Dragons.
“We fully respect this decision and would like to wish him all the best for the future.”
Whether Fa’asuamaleaui plays again this season remains to be seen, with the former Gold Coast Titans man making 28 NRL appearances for the club prior to his exit to join Catalans.
