Super League outside back set to miss the rest of the season

Injuries are sadly a part of sport and no less a sport as physical and as tough as rugby league.

Hull FC are dealing with their own injury problems and the Black and Whites have lost exciting young fullback Davy Litten for three weeks.

Meanwhile, the Black and Whites should have Tex Hoy back and Jamie Shaul is back in training.

But Hull fans won’t see Mitieli Vulikijapani again this season it seems with Tony Smith confirming the versatile back is having an operation.

“We think he’s going to have the operation. We’re just seeing if we can get it booked in soon,” Smith said on BBC Radio Humberside.

“We’ll get that done and get him back into rehab as soon as possible. That gives him his best chance of resuming his career as soon as possible as well.

“It’s probably the smartest, well definitely the smartest option, not only for his career but also for his after rugby life.

“I think it’s the wise decision.”

Smith previously said that this surgery would mean that Vulikijapani would miss the rest of the season.

Fortunately, Hull have plenty of options out wide with the likes of Cam Scott really stepping up this year.
