Super League outside back set for surgery

Tony Smith has provided an injury update ahead of Hull FC’s clash with Leigh Leopards.

Firstly, he addressed Chris Satae’s absence.

He said on Hull FC’s website:

“Chris Satae is precautionary. He’s run today but he’s not quite at the speed that he would need to play at and we don’t want him to try and test that out at the moment. It’s more ticking him over till next week and it’d be a crazy risk to take on him.

“Carlos Tuimavave is back and good to go and same for Davey. They’re big decisions as to whether to throw them straight in or not, so that comes into play.

“Harvey Barron’s not in the squad this week, he’s going to go and play for Newcastle and get a game there which is needed. There’s a few other young guys we’d like to send out and get a game but that’s not the case this week, but Harvey has got a hit out.

“He’s close to selection but he just needs to play some regular rugby league.”

Meanwhile, Mitch Vulikijapani is set for surgery:

“Mitch is in for his operation this week of reconstructing his knee really.”
