Super League transfer rumours are virtually in season all year long and the latest link has landed in the form of an NRL player who has been made available to clubs in the Northern Hemisphere.
There are teams across the board who are planning for the 2026 Super League season in the background, while the focus on the field remains for players and coaches.
Super League transfer news includes NRL player now available
But recruitment staff will be making note of the latest player to be made available ahead of next year, with Hull Live reporting that Brisbane Broncos forward Fletcher Baker has been offered.
Baker is due to be a free agent at the end of the 2025 campaign when his contract with Brisbane runs out. The 25-year-old has made 59 appearances in the NRL for Brisbane and Sydney Roosters before that.
The forward has only appeared twice this season for Brisbane, and it was reported earlier in May that he would be surplus to requirements. Team-mate Adam Reynolds looks set to be retained by Brisbane heading into 2026 and this is due to have a knock-on impact which will make Baker available.
What the new quota rules could be for 2026
Super League clubs continue to wait for clarity on the quota rules for 2026 which will likely impact whether and when teams in the Northern Hemisphere make a play for Baker’s services.
There have been discussions about increasing the number of quota spots for Super League teams based on different factors which may result in a relaxation of rules. But as yet no confirmation has been given to sides ahead of the 2026 campaign.
The new rugby league rule changes which could come into play next year would see quota players become exempt if/once they have spent six consecutive years as a Super League player. Teams will be eagerly awaiting clarity as they continue to plan for next season and beyond.
