Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants are among the clubs to have suffered injuries this past weekend, following the conclusion of Super League Round 25.
Fortunately, the injuries picked up across the league were minimal this week, as opposed to other rounds where bumps and bruises have been rife.
However, for some clubs especially they will be without some key men as we head towards the final two games of the regular season.
Starting with the Rhinos, and it looks highly likely that Danny Levi will miss this week’s game with Wigan Warriors, having suffered a neck issue in his return game.
Levi was left unconscious and hospitalised after a bad incident in the defeat to Castleford Tigers in July, and with this being his comeback game, the signs were worrying when the hooker left the field pointing to his neck.
Brad Arthur said post-match that the ex-Canberra man will go for scans to determine the extent of the issue, but with the club insisting that the person’s health matter before the player, it’s likely that Levi sits the Wigan game out.
Another concern was to full-back Lachie Miller who left the action with around an hour on the clock. The Rhinos boss confirmed that he was always going to take Miller off at that point to rest him, but the Australian copped a black eye for his troubles, making the situation look worse than it was.
Elsewhere, Huddersfield Giants will be without two players on their trip to Hull KR, with back rower Sam Hewitt failing an HIA in the first half, before George Flanagan left the field with cramp.
Jim Lenihan said that the injury could be something a little bit in the soleus or the calf muscle,” but the Giants boss reiterated he wasn’t a doctor and didn’t know.
Warrington Wolves lost three men in their victory over Hull FC, with Arron Lindop, Joe Philbin and Luke Thomas all needing to leave the field.
Burgess told Sky Sports post-match: “Arron’s failed a HIA, and I’m not sure. Luke Thomas’ knee didn’t look too good, so hopefully it’s not too bad, and Joe, again, a lower limb injury, so we’ll wait and see.”
York Knights’ loan star David Nofoaluma missed this week’s game due to illness, boss Mark Applegarth confirmed, whilst fellow loanee Tom Inman is “done for the year” after suffering cartilage damage in his knee.
