Super League medical report: Hull FC forward’s blow as clubs dealt concerns ahead of Challenge Cup semi-finals

The injury report is in after Super League round 10, with a number of players picking up injuries of varying lengths.

Wakefield Trinity suffered the scariest injury, with centre Cameron Scott knocked out for 13 minutes after a collision with Leeds Rhinos prop Keenan Palasia.

Scott was eventually stetchered off the field in a neck brace, with oxygen provided too. Thankfully, after a hosptial trip, he was discharged at 1am on Saturday morning with only a severe concussion.

As with many of the injuries suffered this week, a week’s break due to the Challenge Cup will mean they get extra time to recover without missing a game.

Wakefield winger Oli Pratt also went off for a HIA in that game, but he passed his test and was able to return.

Jack Sinfield was named at 18th man against his former club, but post-match Powell revealed that the half-back had been playing through a fractured sternum, something that factored into his spine selection decision this week.

St Helens winger Kyle Feldt was one of three players to fail a HIA in the Red Vee’s win over York Knights. The North Queensland Cowboys legend will miss next week’s Cup game with Wigan Warriors, leaving Paul Rowley with another selection decision.

York pair Jesse Dee and Matty Foster also both failed, but a two-week break will mean they shouldn’t miss any action, so long as they complete the return-to-play protocols.

Knights had further concerns, with forwards Oli Field and Kieran Hudson suffering set-back in the lead up to that game. The former Leeds pair both pulled out in mid-week, with Hudson suffering a “pretty nasty” ankle roll.

Huddersfield Giants looked to have somewhat overcome their injury worries, but blows to Niall Evalds and Adam Clune saw both of them leave the field.

Clune suffered a hamstring injury, and is the more serious of the two, with Evalds being unable to return to the field due to not wearing the instrumented mouthguard, meaning it was an automatic HIA fail.

Fenton Rogers was another Giants player who couldn’t see out the game, with the forward suffering back spasms.

Warrington Wolves speedster Josh Thewlis was a late withdrawal from the game, meaning Sam Burgess had to use Lachlan Webster at full-back. Thewlis picked up a minor niggle, but should be back for this week’s Cup semi-final.

Finally, in Hull FC’s loss to Toulouse, their afternoon went from bad to worse with Connor Bailey leaving the field just six minutes into the contest.

He was replaced by the returning Joe Batchelor, and Bailey is said to have fractured his clavicle, but will need an X-ray to confirm the blow.
