Super League Magic Weekend 2025 fixtures confirmed following IMG grading

Magic Weekend

Now that we have confirmation of the twelve teams that will play in Super League in 2025, we can work out what the Magic Weekend fixtures will be.

As in recent seasons, it is expected that the way the fixtures are worked out will again be based on league placing – with 1st playing 3rd, 2nd playing 4th, 5th playing 7th and so on – with odd-placed sides playing other odd-placed sides, and the same for even-placed sides in the previous season’s table.

The promoted side from the RFL Championship is put into the fixture generator as the twelfth-placed side.

It’s not confirmed where these fixtures will be taking place, after the 2024 edition was played at Elland Road in Leeds, but a return to St James’ Park in Newcastle is the most likely scenario.

1st vs 3rd – Wigan Warriors v Warrington Wolves

Warrington fans will remember a rout against the Warriors at the Brick Community Stadium fondly, with arguably the best performance of the entire Super League campaign coming in these sides’ most recent meeting.

However, Warriors fans would point to the Challenge Cup final in which they emerged victorious.

2nd vs 4th – Hull KR v Salford Red Devils

Two sides that have punched above their weight in recent years, they now come into the campaign as sides that have cemented themselves as consistent high finishers and will be hoping to shake play-off disappointment off for next year.

5th vs 7th – ~Leigh Leopards v Catalans Dragons

These two had completely contrasting first and second halves of the 2024 campaign, and the Dragons narrowly missed out on a play-off place, leapfrogged by the Leopards towards the back end of the season.

6th vs 8th – St Helens v Leeds Rhinos

The two most successful clubs of the Super League era both disappointed last year, but this is always a fixture to put in the calendar – they’ll both have a point to prove at Magic Weekend.

9th vs 11th – Huddersfield Giants vs Hull FC

Both on the wrong end of some seriously humbling results last season, this could be a rare opportunity to grab points for either of these teams – both with a head coach in their first full season.

10th vs 12th – Castleford Tigers vs Wakefield Trinity

Probably the highlight of the fixtures, this is reminiscent of a time when Magic Weekend was also used as a Rivals Round. The derby clash will be a welcome re-addition to the fixture lists next year, and having it on the big stage is exciting as well.
