Super League injury round-up as Hull FC and Wigan Warriors dealt blows

Super League injuries

Round five of Super League is in the books and the table is starting to take shape with Hull KR now three points clear at the top of the division.

The Robins were the big winners of the round, thumping Leigh Leopards 30-0 to consolidate their spot as the competition’s premier team in 2025 and it seems they’ll take some stopping. Warrington Wolves claimed a much-needed win as they edged out St Helens, while Leeds Rhinos stunned Wigan Warriors at Headingley on Saturday night.

Hull FC climbed up to third in the league as they overcame a game Wakefield Trinity side at Belle Vue, while Salford Red Devils claimed their first win of the season by beating Huddersfield Giants on Thursday night. Elsewhere, Catalans Dragons secured another victory by beating Castleford Tigers.

However, the round didn’t pass without its injury concerns, with Niall Evalds picking up a foot injury on his Giants debut at Salford. The full-back has just joined Huddersfield on loan from Hull KR but he could be set for a significant period on the sidelines now, only adding to Huddersfield’s injury woes.

Hull FC claimed the points at Wakefield despite losing both Cade Cust and Jed Cartwright to issues. The Australian duo have been key men this season and the Black and Whites will hoping they can make a quick recovery.

Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet opted not to play Jai Field against the Rhinos and he also saw Abbas Miski drop out of the warm-up at Headingley, with Peet admitting after the game that Miski needs surgery.

Daryl Clark picked up a hip issue against Warrington and the Wolves’ Josh Thewlis picked up something, too. Catalans saw Fouad Yaha and Romain Navarette pick up injuries in West Yorkshire, while Castleford will be keeping tabs on Jeremiah Simbiken’s hamstring problem this week, it seems.
