Super League Injury News: Title challengers suffer triple blow as hamstring curse hits league

This weekend’s Super League action started on Thursday night on Sky Sports in the Battle of the Borough.

It was the perfect precursor to next weeks Rivals Round as Leigh Leopards hosted Wigan Warriors in what felt like a major event.

The Warriors came away with the win thanks to a Bevan French masterclass.

Speaking of a masterclass, that is exactly what we saw from Jordan Abdull on Friday night as he kicked Leeds Rhinos to death on Friday night in the rain as Hull KR made it four wins from the opening seven games.

Elsewhere on Friday night, St Helens added to Wakefield Trinity’s misery. For the fourth time this season Wakefield failed to register a point as they lost 38-0.

On Saturday, Hull FC’s losing run extended to five games as they were blown away in the first half by league leaders Warrington Wolves 34-6.

Catalans Dragons though kept the pressure up on the Wolves at the top winning late against Castleford Tigers thanks to a Mike McMeeken try against his former club who produced a valiant effort and were unlucky to lose.

On Sunday the action wrapped up as Huddersfield Giants won away against Salford Red Devils.

But how did team’s fare on the injury front? Well there has been something of a hamstring curse this weekend that has struck the teams preparing for the big Good Friday derbies.

Meanwhile, Castleford Tigers’ injury woes have worsened though they have signed Hull KR’s Luis Johnson on loan.

Leeds Rhinos’ back entire first choice back three were absent as Abdull raised the intensity though Richie Myler was only absent due to paternity leave.
