Super League Injury News: Star’s season over as winger left in agony

Round 17 of the Betfred Super League has been and gone and there were some big results for Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, St Helens and of course the Leigh Leopards.

But it was a bad week for the Warrington Wolves and Daryl Powell.

His side dropped from second to fourth in the table as the pressure begins to mount on the former Castleford Tigers coach.

His side had to deal with boos from the home crowd as they went 16-0 down in 15 minute against the Rhinos at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Warrington did battle hard in the second 40 but lost 22-6.

On Friday night it was Hull KR who let themselves down as they were well beaten by Leigh Leopards who moved up to second in the table.

Their rivals Wigan Warriors are now third after their 22-6 win over Huddersfield Giants.

Champions St Helens also claimed a vital win over Castleford Tigers who are now in trouble after Wakefield Trinity stunned the league with a resounding win over Salford Red Devils.

The action concluded on Saturday as Hull FC came up short against league leaders Catalans Dragons.

A great weekend but did teams avoid injuries?

The game with the most injuries was the clash between Leigh and Hull KR with both loose-forwards suffering stinger injuries in the shape of John Asiata and Elliot Minchella.

Fouad Yaha suffered a hamstring injury which was the fate of St Helens star Joe Batchelor.

Elsewhere on Friday, Oliver Russell limped off against Wigan whilst on Saturday Hull FC’s Adam Swift was helped from the field with a nasty back injury.

On Thursday, Aidan Sezer left the field early with a knock.

Huddersfield also announced yesterday that Harry Rushton’s season is over.
