This weekend was always going to be a huge weekend with Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR colliding in a vital clash in the play-off race, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves meeting in the race for the top four and two of the top three with St Helens meeting Catalans Dragons.
On Saturday, Hull FC had their chance to build on the derby win last week against Castleford Tigers. They have a very strong sent of the play-offs at the moment.
Castleford meanwhile needed a win in the relegation battle after Huddersfield Giants battled Wakefield Trinity.
The action concluded on Sunday with Salford Red Devils and Leigh Leopards meeting in an interesting battle towards the top.
But the action started on Thursday in a game described as a Grand Final dress rehearsal by some as league leaders Catalans Dragons edged Super League and World Champions St Helens in a controversial affair.
On Friday night Hull KR broke Leeds hearts with a drop goal from debutant and NRL starlet Brad Schneider in golden point.
Wigan meanwhile helped their hopes for the top two defeating Warrington who remain outside the top four and Huddersfield defeated Wakefield.
Saturday saw Castleford miss the chance to move four points clear of their West Yorkshire rivals in the relegation battle.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Leigh Leopards won a great game against Salford Red Devils 24-22.
But how did teams fare on the injury front? Hull FC were arguably hit the worst with four injury blows.
They lost Danny Houghton, Cam Scott, Andre Savelio and Carlos Tuimavave. But semi-finalists St Helens and Hull KR both suffered crushing double blows ahead of next week’s Challenge Cup semi-finals.
There was a worrying head knock for Joe Philbin at Warrington whilst James Harrison picked up an ankle knock.
