Round 15 of Super League is in the history books and we have plenty to reflect on. Hull KR were the big winners of the weekend as they moved four points clear at the top of the league ladder.
The Robins thumped Castleford Tigers 48-0 on Thursday night and watched on as Wigan Warriors slipped up at Wakefield Trinity, with Daryl Powell’s side winning 16-10.
Leigh Leopards moved up to third as they beat Catalans Dragons in the south of France with Adrian Lam’s side winning 26-12 on Saturday evening to pile the misery on Catalans. They jumped above Leeds Rhinos in table, with Brad Arthur’s outfit falling short at St Helens.
Huddersfield Giants provided another shock as they beat out of form Warrington Wolves 24-16 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. It was Huddersfield’s second win of the Super League season and they’ll hope to finally find some momentum in the final months of the campaign.
Hull FC wrapped up the round with a 38-6 win over Salford Red Devils, despite being far from their very best.
The round came at a cost for some, though, and a number of head coaches will be checking on injuries early this week. Here’s a look at those players with injury concerns.
Super League round 15 injuries
Wakefield pulled off what was the result of the round as they beat Wigan at Belle Vue and what makes it more impressive is that they did it without their skipper Mike McMeeken. The forward has a minor pec tear and is expected to miss Friday’s trip to Wakefield Trinity, too.
The Trin will be assessing Mathieu Cozza’s ankle injury, too, after he was forced off the field in the first half. Liam Marshall also left the action at Belle Vue with Matt Peet describing it as a leg injury.
Morgan Gannon picked up a shin injury on the same night at St Helens as the Leeds Rhinos man was forced off the field. He was seen in a protective boot that night and it remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to feature against the Leopards on Friday.
Huddersfield lost Adam Clune for the season last week and their injury issues got worse when Sam Hewitt suffered a head knock inside the opening three minutes of the clash with Warrington. He ultimately failed a HIA and Ashton Golding was withdrawn with a neck injury, too. The Wolves played that game without Adam Holroyd, who suffered a hamstring injury in training.
Catalans Dragons’ Arthur Romano picked up an issue against Leigh, while loanee Cain Robb failed a HIA in his Salford debut. Robb only joined Salford on a two-week loan which means he has played his first and last game for the club unless that deal gets extended.
