Super League hopefuls, Keighley Cougars, suffer damage to their ground ahead of busy pre-season

One of the teams in the Championship that everyone is wary of is Keighley Cougars with the side having made some big moves in the off-season by strengthening their squad, however the Cougars have more problems than just pre-season on their hands it seems.

In a tweet from the club’s official Twitter, they’ve announced that they have sustained a leak that “caused damage to the ground” which has prompted immediate repairs.

The Cougars had been hoping to make a splash on the pitch in 2023 but it seems that the facilities at the newly promoted team’s home, Cougar Park, have let them down with the leak requiring a five man team to fix it.

It’s unclear how much damage has been caused or even where the damage has been sustained but with the first pre-season friendly set to be played at the ground in just under three weeks time, and prior to that a fan attended question and answer style panel.

A squad that secured an unbeaten season in 2022 to secure promotion and has now strengthened with former Man of Steel winner, Luke Gale, being added will head to Newcastle Thunder for their first game of the pre-season before hosting Castleford Tigers on January 22nd.

The fan attended panel event at Cougar Park on the 6th January (Friday) will feature Gale alongside Head Coach Rhys Lovegrove, the team’s co-owners and fellow teammate Jack Miller, hence the urgency for the groundsmen to repair the leak.
