Super League halfback signs three-year contract

Hull KR have announced that Rowan Milnes has signed a new three-year extension with the club, keeping him at Hull College Craven Park until 2025.

The 6 foot 1 halfback joined the Robins for the 2020 season from Bradford Bulls and has progressed under Tony Smith’s coaching staff. Only 21 years old, Milnes made his Super League debut last October against Catalans Dragons at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

He has since made ten appearances, including seven this year – scoring his first Super League try against Leigh Centurions earlier this season.

Milnes felt it was an easy decision to sign: “I’ve been really happy with how many games I’ve got this year and the opportunities I’ve been given. I’m delighted to be staying at the club.

“It was an easy decision. I love it here – love the culture, the lads, the coaching staff. I want to keep going in the direction I’m going in and nail down that regular half spot.”

Head coach, Tony Smith was excited to secure Milnes’ future at the club: “Delighted for Rowan, but the club as well. He’s a talented young, halfback – one we feel has got a really bright future. He’s doing some good things along the way and gaining some great experiences at the moment. I’d also like to think he’s getting better and better.

“It’s a really, good deal for him and for the club. He’s keen to learn, keen to develop, he’s a great listener, he’s intelligent and he’s got a really strong desire for success. All those attributes will keep him hungry, keep him grounded and keep him heading in the right direction.”
