Super League Grand Final team news as Hull KR boss makes big Micky McIlorum call

Grand Final

Willie Peters and Matt Peet have names their teams for this evening’s Super League Grand Final as Hull KR take on Wigan Warriors. The two sides faced each other in last year’s Grand Final and they’re back again with repeat or revenge on the cards.

Of course, the Robins are chasing a treble this evening having already won the Challenge Cup and League Leaders’ Shield this season. Wigan, on the other hand, have the opportunity to record an historic three-peat, having won in 2023 and 2024.

The Warriors, as expected, have named an unchanged team for the clash, with Peet being reluctant to make unnecessary changes.

That means Liam Byrne starts at front-row, Abbas Miski is on the wing and Sam Walters starts at back-row with the forward expected to move into the middle at some point during the game.

Junior Nsemba, Patrick Mago, Kruise Leeming and Ethan Havard are on the bench for the Warriors.

The one big bit of team news comes from the East Yorkshire outfit, with Micky McIlorum drafted in to start the game. The veteran has been struggling with a broken ankle but he’s been passed fit enough to play one last time before stepping into retirement.

McIlorum will be expected to set the tone in the game before making way for Jez Litten around the 15 or 20 minute mark.

Arthur Mourgue starts as expected, despite taking a knock last time out, while Sam Luckley, Jai Whitbread and Rhyse Martin are on the bench. That means Jack Broadbent, who has performed so well all season at centre must make do with 18th man.
