It’s the big one, the one that we’ve been waiting all season for, and it’s finally here. It’s Super League Grand Final Day and with Warrington Wolves playing Wakefield Trinity, we’re guaranteed to have a new name on the trophy.
That’s not something that we’ve been able to say heading into a Grand Final since the second-ever Super League Grand Final, way back in 1999 when St Helens faced Bradford Bulls.
Since then, a past winner has always played in the Grand Final, which showcases what a special event this year’s Old Trafford showdown is. Moreover, we’re set for a second new winner in two years, with Super League possibly entering a new era of parity.
That’s to be seen, so too is who will win tonight between Warrington and Wakefield, who have both had incredible seasons, but we’ve had a go at predicting which team will lift both the Super League Grand Final trophy and which player will lift the Rob Burrow Award, handed out to the Man of the Match.
For one last time in Super League 2026, it’s prediction time.

Who will win the 2026 Super League Grand Final?
Warrington Wolves versus Wakefield Trinity @ 6:00 pm on Saturday, 3rd October – Old Trafford
Peter Smith: Warrington Wolves 16-24 Wakefield Trinity
It’s so tough to call, but while the backs look evenly-matched, Trinity probably have the stronger pack and that might just give them the edge.
Sam Cook: Warrington Wolves 16-14 Wakefield Trinity
Wakefield were near-perfect last week, and I simply don’t think they can climb that mountain again, though I thought the same for the Women’s Grand Final when York Valkyrie proved me wrong. However, I think that Warrington’s big-game experience in recent years, albeit defeats in finals, can help them nick an edge-of-the-seat Grand Final.
Sam Brocksom: Warrington Wolves 24-12 Wakefield Trinity
As I said on this week’s SARL Grand Final preview show, I think last week against Wigan was Wakefield’s ‘Grand Final’. I’m very happy to be proven wrong, but I think this might be a step too far for Daryl Powell’s side. Regardless of a win at Old Trafford, this season is still an incredible success.
Who will take home the Rob Burrow Award?
Rob Burrow Award winner for Man of the Match
Peter Smith: Tyson Smoothy (Wakefield Trinity)
An NRL Grand Final winner 12 months ago, Trinity’s hooker has had an outstanding season and could be the difference in a tight game.
Sam Cook: Ben Currie (Warrington Wolves)
If the game is as tight and gritty as I’m expecting that there perhaps won’t be too many moments of attacking brilliance, but instead some monumental defensive efforts. Ben Currie, the man who missed the 2016 and 2018 Grand Finals through injury, is someone who is capable of that. He’ll tackle everything in sight and could carry Wire home.
Sam Brocksom: Danny Walker (Warrington Wolves)
I agree with Pete that it will be the hooker who decides the game, but I’m going with Wire’s Walker to do just that. He’s known for kicking the odd 40/20, and his runs from dummy half and pinpoint distribution will be key for Sam Burgess’ men.
Predictions Leaderboard:
1st: Peter Smith – 150 (+1)
2nd: Sam Cook – 148 (+1)
3rd: Sam Brocksom – 138 (+1)
