Super League forward hunting for new club

Super League forward Alex Gerrard is hunting for a new club following Leigh Centurions’ relegation.

Gerrard, who made 115 appearances for Widnes Vikings between 2010 and 2018, moved to Leigh ahead of the 2020 season.

The forward was also present in the Centurions’ Super League season in 2021, but didn’t feature too often as the Lancashire club won just two games to drop down to the Championship once more in 2022.

Gerrard, along with Brendan Elliot and Nathaniel Peteru, is currently without a club and would be a big hit in both Super League and the Championship.

Aged 30, Gerrard also turned out for the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup Down Under.

Leigh, meanwhile, have began rebuilding ahead of their season in the Championship with the likes of NRL stars Tom Amone, John Asiata and Caleb Aekins joining.

Adrian Lam has also taken the head coaching role after a three-year stint at the Wigan Warriors, with Tony Clubb following him from the Lancashire club to be appointed assistant coach.
