Super League forward hit with mammoth ban and fine

Tonight’s tribunal has reached a verdict on the one case considered with no appeals launched from yesterday’s match review panel.

Yesterday, a huge 11 players have been charged by the Match Review Panel.

Of the 11, four players have been fined and will receive no further punishments.

Meanwhile, two more have avoided punishment all together.

On top of this, four players have been handed bans with one player in the shape of Mitchell Pearce handed a ban and a fine.

Pearce’s teammate Matt Whitley was also banned as was Wakefield Trinity duo Sam Eseh and Sam Hewitt.

After tonight’s tribunal it was confirmed that their Wakefield teammate Hugo Salabio has been banned for seven matches by the independent tribunal.

Salabio admitted a charge of Grade F spear tackle committed during Sunday’s Betfred Super League match against Leeds Rhinos. He is also fined £1,000. 

He was on debut after joining Wakefield on trial.

The tackle has been described as a suplex.
