Warrington v St Helens fixture change confirmed

Warrington Wolves St Helens

The latest Super League game to be moved due to Sky Sports coverage has been confirmed, and it’s a decision that could have huge consequences in the race for the League Leaders’ Shield and playoff seeding – with Warrington Wolves taking on St Helens on a new date.

Warrington currently sit just two points behind the two sides at the top of the Super League table – Hull KR and Wigan Warriors.

They’ve had an excellent campaign, agonisingly falling at the final hurdle in the Challenge Cup final, and Sam Burgess’ side will be hoping to grab the League Leaders’ Shield – which isn’t impossible at all.

St Helens, meanwhile, are level on points with Catalans Dragons and Salford Red Devils in the final playoff spots, with Leigh Leopards and Leeds Rhinos just three and four points behind respectively.

Therefore, for both sides involved in this fixture, every single game could make- or break – their respective seasons.

The game has been selected as an exclusive Sky Sports pick – as has another game originally scheduled for the same time – 8pm on Friday 6th September.

Therefore, it has been moved to Saturday 7th September, and will kickoff at 3pm. It will be live on a Sky Sports TV channel.

This move is significant, as that other game, which would otherwise have been at the same time, sees Warrington’s rivals for top spot – Wigan Warriors and Hull KR – face each other in a game that will itself prove huge.

The Wire will now have the benefit of knowing how their rivals have fared before their own game kicks off.

St Helens will also know how Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards did the previous night against Hull FC.

Meanwhile, just after Warrington vs St Helens, Saints’ nearest rivals in the table (Salford and Catalans) play each other as well.

This may prove to be the most influential week of the regular season in determining the final make-up of the table.

Warrington Wolves have confirmed: All tickets purchased will remain valid for the rearranged fixture.

“Match ticket purchasers who can no longer attend the game can claim a refund from our official club store if your ticket was purchased before 3pm today (Thu 22 Aug).

“Alternatively, you can email membership@warringtonwolves.com.”
