Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants have all confirmed major signings for next year but Super League clubs aren’t the only ones looking at major recruits.

Teams in the Elite One Championship seem to be active too looking at Kevin Proctor from Wakefield Trinity as well as Chris McQueen from Huddersfield Giants according to Treize Mondial.

McQueen has been replaced at Huddersfield by Jack Murchie from the NRL but it was believed he was going to retire.

Chris made his NRL debut in 2009, and went on to score 69 tries in a combined 253 games, including a Team of the Decade inclusion for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, where he spent six years.

Nicknamed ‘Crispy’ during his time at the Giants, McQueen made an instant impression after arriving at the club in 2020, scoring 34 tries and a whopping 17 in the 2022 season, seeing him included in the Super League Dream Team.

After struggling for game time at the Wests Tigers, Chris made the move to Huddersfield and made his debut vs Leeds Rhinos, and then scored his first try a week later in a home win vs Wakefield.

Loved by his teammates and supporters alike, the Cowbell Army quickly took to Chris as one of their own, and has been a stalwart in the Huddersfield club since his arrival.

A try in the Challenge Cup final a highlight for Chris in his time at the Giants, and numerous other crucial scores securing two valuable points, including a great effort vs Hull FC in 2023.

His performance in the Challenge Cup Final also saw him scoop the Lance Todd Trophy, the award to the Man of the Match in the Challenge Cup Final.

McQueen also played five times for Queensland, and another time he was a late call up to the side after Eddie Pettybourne was injured in the warm up, but didn’t actually make the field on this occasion.

A true Rugby League legend, and one that we’re so proud to have represented the Claret and Gold on a number of occasions, Ian Watson described Chris as “The guy everyone wants to play with” after he made his 250th Career Appearance vs Leeds Rhinos, a hallmark of one of his many qualities.
