The likes of Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and Hull KR have all been involved in transfer stories lately.
As Leeds Rhinos are linked to the likes of former Huddersfield Giants star Danny Levi, they have confirmed the signing of Mickael Goudemand from Catalans Dragons which is a club Wigan turned to in order to bring in Tiaki Chan and they are also interested in Adam Keighran.
They have already signed Sam Walters and of course Kruise Leeming from the NRL. Speaking of the NRL Hull FC have lost Jake Clifford to North Queensland Cowboys according to reports.
They have also let go of Josh Griffin effective immediately and speaking of immediate signings, we have seen Hull KR bring in Brad Schneider.
Speaking on signing for the club: “I’m excited to get over there and rip in. I had a chat to Willie and the one thing that stood out to me the most was how much he wanted me there. As a player, the confidence that gives me, it’s a wonderful feeling.”
Willie Peters is delighted to have signed someone of Brad’s quality midway through the season:
“It’s a really positive signing for the club at this stage of the season. Brad’s going to give us some much needed depth in the halves, he’s a talented young player who works hard, and that’s what we want at this club.”
What this means for Mikey Lewis and Rowan Milnes remains to be seen.
It was suggested by Mark Wilson on Sky sports that Lewis could be set for a big positional switch:
“Brad Schneider could debut next week for the Robins. What that means for Lewis and Milnes we don’t know, we could see Lewis move to fullback which he has played a little in his career.”
After an injury against Hull FC Lewis will miss the game against Leeds.
Lewis isn’t the only young Super League star who is set for this kind of switch.
Warrington are bringing in an NRL signing of their own in the shape of Lachlan Fitzgibbon.
The move had some questioning the future of former Wigan youngster Matty Nicholson however the second-row is now set for a positional change.
This was revealed by Warrington coach Daryl Powell after the signing was announced.
He explained: “Lachlan is a quality player and is a great signing for us for a lot of reasons. I’ve had really good, positive conversations with him.
“He’s a top-class back-rower who’s been consistent over there in the NRL for a number of years now. He runs great lines and is a great professional. He’ll be a great addition for next season and the Warrington fans will love what he’ll be able to deliver.
“Matty Nicholson will move to 13 in the middle of the field and he’s really positive about that switch too.”
Nicholson and Lewis are two great young players in Super League with bright England futures ahead of them and these positional switches could redefine their careers.
