Super League duo make immediate loan moves

Ben Davies has become the latest highly regarded young St Helens star to sign a Dual Registration agreement with the Lions.

The 23 years old 6 foot centre has scored 8 tries in 18 senior matches for the Saints, and is likely to be included in our 21-man squad to face Toulouse at Heywood Road on Saturday.

Young Warrington Wolves middle Luke Thomas has also joined the Lions on an initial short-term loan deal, and comes into squad contention for Saturday’s home match versus Toulouse. He is 6 foot 1 inch tall with a playing style that is very physical and aggressive and said to resemble a young James Graham.

Luke emerged through the Latchford Albion club, and has really caught the eye at Warrington where they believe he has a very bright future.

Luke is 20 years old and has already appeared at Super League level for the Wolves. He qualifies for Wales and made his international debut during the recent Rugby League World Cup.

Thomas made his Super League debut last year and has been close to the first team in 2023 once more.

Meanwhile, Ben Davies was a key player for St Helens last year during their injury crisis.

He can play in the halves, anywhere in the backline or even in the backrow.

York RLFC’s Jamie Ellis has done the same and joined the Lions on loan.

Ellis is formerly of the Castleford Tigers.
