The Super League play-offs have arrived and just six teams remain as next month’s Grand Final at Old Trafford edges ever closer. However, some of those sides might just find themselves sweating over disciplinary concerns today.
Wigan Warriors topped the table of course and after lifting the League Leaders’ Shield, they now have a home semi-final to look forward to next week. Hull KR are just 80 minutes from the Grand Final, too, after sealing second spot with a win over Leeds Rhinos on Friday night.
Warrington Wolves grabbed third place and Sam Burgess’ side will be busy preparing for Saturday’s eliminator clash against St Helens at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Both sides would have expected to reach the semi-finals of the competition at the very least this year, but only one can progress to the next round of the Super League play-offs.
This week’s other play-off tie will see Salford Red Devils host Leigh Leopards at the Salford Stadium in a game that looks impossible to call at this point.
With so much on the line, all six clubs will be patiently waiting for this afternoon’s disciplinary news to emerge for fear of seeing one of their players punished and potentially ruled out of a season-defining game.
Round 27 Super League disciplinary concerns
It was a quiet week for referees it seems with just one yellow card being dished out by officials. It’s fair to say that decision was a highly controversial one, though, with Ricky Leutele being sent to the sin-bin for a tackle on Jack Welsby that many felt was perfectly acceptable.
It’s not one that the match official team were happy with, though, and after a review by video referee Ben Thaler, the decision was made to give Leutele 10 minutes.
The challenge will be looked at by the Match Review Panel and Leigh will be hoping for a favourable decision. With Leutele out of contract at the end of the season, a ban could well bring his time with the club to an end.
More incidents will be looked at today and the six remaining sides will have their fingers crossed that they can emerge without a penalty notice.

The rule makers need to take a serious look at themselves if that was a foul tackle then the game is finished . What did Ben Thaler see that no one else did .
Was it because it was Welsby ?
And im a Saints fan ridiculous call from the video ref and he should be stood down .
