Super League disciplinary verdict confirmed ahead of play-offs

The first round of the Super League play-offs is behind us but those teams who progressed will be wary of the disciplinary verdict given by the Match Review Panel today.

There were no bans heading into the first round of the play-offs, barring Hull KR captain Elliot Minchella who had seen his two-match ban upheld. That means he will miss the semi-final against Warrington Wolves on Friday night.

Sam Burgess will be hoping that none of his Warrington players have crossed the disciplinary tight walk and been banned for the club’s first Super League semi-final since 2019. They progressed after beating St Helens 23-22 in a dramatic golden point game.

As for Adrian Lam and his Leigh Leopards, they did receive the only sin bin of the round as Jack Hughes was shown yellow for a professional foul late on.

Holmes committed the foul in the minutes of Leigh’s 14-6 win over Salford Red Devils. That victory means they will travel to face Wigan Warriors on Saturday.

Following those games, players and their respective clubs will have been nervously anticipating today’s verdicts, with a shot at going to Old Trafford rugby on the horizon.

Super League disciplinary decisions confirmed

Now, the verdict from the Match Review Panel is in and the Super League disciplinary axe has not been swung at all with no bans handed out in Super League. In fact, there was not even a single charge which is a rarity.

Jack Hughes has not received a ban despite being the only man to sustain a yellow card in the eliminators meaning he will be available to face Wigan Warriors on Saturday.

The only action that the Match Review Panel took was against players in the Championship with their play-offs set to begin this coming weekend, however, none of the affected sides are in the play-offs meaning that those games will also be unaffected.
