The Super League semi-finals were won by Hull KR and Wigan Warriors and both teams will have been wary of today’s disciplinary verdict.
No fresh bans were handed out ahead of the semi-finals, however, Hull KR captain Elliot Minchella was forced to serve the second game of his tw0-match ban.
Despite missing their captain, Hull KR were able to make it to their first-ever Grand Final as they defeated Warrington Wolves 10-8 in a tense affair at a packed-out Craven Park.
Much controversy surrounded Joe Burgess’ try but on the face of it, Hull KR were the better side, albeit in a game of two halves.
As for Saturday’s semi-final, Wigan Warriors dominated Leigh Leopards as they cruised to a 38-0 win with Matt Peet’s side also missing their captain, this time through illness with Liam Farrell suffering from a virus.
Tyler Dupree was the only man to be sin-binned across the two matches but only for kicking the ball away, however, both teams will have been nervously awaiting the Match Review Panel’s Super League disciplinary verdict.
Super League disciplinary decisions confirmed
That verdict is now in and it has been confirmed that no players will miss the Super League Grand Final with the disciplinary panel finding no issues in either of the two play-off semi-finals.
Several players were cited but none were charged meaning that both Hull KR and Wigan Warriors will be without any suspensions or bans for Saturday’s match at Old Trafford.
There was a ban handed out following the League One play-off final as Keighley Cougars’ Lewis Hatton was handed a two-game ban for a Grade D charge of abusive language toward a match official.
Keighley lost that game meaning that victors Hunslet will now face Swinton Lions with the winner securing their place in the Championship for 2025.
