The regular season of Super League has concluded, which means teams will be anticipating the Match Review Panel’s verdicts in Super League disciplinary ahead of the play-offs.
Last week, we saw Elliot Minchella and Arthur Romano banned – with it being just the two players banned last time out.
This week, the action started with Wigan Warriors winning the League Leaders’ Shield with a 64-0 victory over a young Salford Red Devils side.
Elsewhere, it was further frustration for Castleford Tigers as they went down 34-10 away at fellow strugglers Huddersfield Giants.
On Friday night, Hull KR saw off Brad Arthur’s Leeds Rhinos to cement second-place, while Warrington Wolves tried their best to snatch it in a 54-0 win over London Broncos.
Elsewhere, both Leigh Leopards and St Helens had their play-off positions confirmed, but it was Leigh that won 18-12 on the day.
That was where the only yellow card of the entire round was given – with Ricky Leutele sentenced to ten minutes in the bin for a tackle on Jack Welsby, casting fears over whether that could have been his final game for the club.
Finally, Hull FC managed to stay off the bottom of the table despite losing 24-4 to Catalans Dragons, who didn’t quite make the play-offs.
Following those games, players and their respective clubs would have been nervously anticipating the Panel’s verdicts, with knockout rugby on the horizon.
Super League disciplinary decisions confirmed
Now, the Match Review Panel’s decisions have been confirmed.
Ricky Leutele has not received a ban, due to contact being “secondary and low force”, meaning he’s free to play in Leigh’s play-off game.
The only player receiving a ban in Super League was Yusuf Aydin, who gets a one-match penalty notice for Grade B Dangerous Contact.
Therefore, every play-off side have no players unavailable due to disciplinary concerns.
