Players from Hull KR and Warrington Wolves will be among those Super League stars sweating the possibility of disciplinary action after Round 25 of the competition.
It was a major round in the battle for the Super League play-offs and particularly the race for the League Leaders Shield with Wigan Warriors taking on Hull KR on Friday night.
That game played out as one of the best of the season so far and it was Matt Peet’s side who came out on top with a 24-20 win to return to the top of Super League in a game that will certainly have the attention of the disciplinary panel.
Two sin bins for Hull KR led to debate around players ‘milking’ penalties, something that raged on ahead of, during and after Saturday’s clash between Warrington Wolves and St Helens. Wire won that 16-2 to keep the pressure on the Robins in the race for the top two.
Saturday’s other match saw Salford defeat Catalans 27-12 to leave the Dragons’ play-off hopes hanging by a thread, particularly following Leeds’ 68-6 win over Hull and Leigh’s 34-12 win over Cas the night before.
The final game of the round saw Huddersfield Giants beat London Broncos 22-16 in Luke Robinson’s first game since being appointed head coach.
With just two games of the Super League season left, clubs will be very anxious about today’s Match Review Panel‘s disciplinary results and there’s good reason with a total of nine cards shown across the six matches.
Round 25 Super League disciplinary concerns

The most obvious causes for concern are for Jai Whitbread and Lachlan Fitzgibbon, both who were shown yellow for high tackles not dissimilar to recent incidents that have drawn bans.
Both men were shown a yellow card after intervention from the video referee which was a trend this weekend with Matty Lees being another to suffer that fate after his ‘shot’ on Josh Drinkwater.
Josh Thewlis also saw yellow in that game for a professional foul which likely won’t trouble the disciplinary panel. Others in Super League to be shown a yellow card were Jed Cartwright, Joe Burgess, John Asiata, Jenson Windley and Will Lovell.
Catalans’ Alrix da Costa could be subject to disciplinary action after his high tackle was placed on report following the club’s clash with Salford.

The set of six given by the ref needs to be scrapped, a lot of the time no one but the ref knows what it’s for but the spectators just think it’s the ref showing favioritism and helping a side score.
