Following the Fourth round of the Challenge Cup, the Match Review Panel have met to bring forward the Super League disciplinary charges.
Of the 16 teams in action this past weekend, 11 clubs hailed from Super League and those sides will have been nervously awaiting the disciplinary verdict from today’s Match Review Panel.
We have already seen the likes of Castleford’s Jeremiah Simbiken and Leeds Rhinos’ Tom Holroyd fall foul of the disciplinary panel this year and a number of other Super League players will have been on alert for today’s verdict.
The new disciplinary system sees players earn penalty points with those points adding up throughout the season and turning into bans when certain thresholds are met, meaning not all offences are met with bans.
That’s seen limited bans in the opening weeks of Super League, however, now that a number of players have penalty points on their record we could start to see players miss game time.
This week’s charges have now been confirmed.
Super League disciplinary sees six charges after Challenge Cup clashes
The Match Review Panel have confirmed six charges although one of those has gone to Championship player Nick Gregson for his offence in their game against Warrington Wolves.
Of the six charges, no player has been banned with only one fine handed out as well and that goes to Hull FC man Jordan Rapana after his Grade B charge for Late Contact on the Passer took him to 4.5 total penalty points.
Kaide Ellis, Keenan Palasia, Jack Croft and Taane Milne all also received charges but they were handed Grade A charges worth just one point.
