Super League Disciplinary: Hull KR and Wigan Warriors learn fate as Jackson Hastings handed ban

The Super League disciplinary verdict is in ahead of Hull KR and Wigan Warriors’ trip to Wembley this weekend for the Challenge Cup Final.

In what is great news for both clubs, no player has recieved a charge, let alone a ban, meaning that the best players will be on show in the capital this weekend.

Wigan took no risks last time out, fielding a majorly rotated squad in Thursday night’s game against Hull KR.

The Robins stuck with their usual squad, despite some players being close to a potential ban, but that gamble has paid off and they will have a full squad available to choose from this week.

The only player from the two teams that could have been in trouble was Wigan prop Sam Eseh, who was penalised in that game for a dangerous throw on KR’s Ryan Hampshire. However, he has walked away from the Match Review Panel scot-free.

Super League Round 12 disciplinary verdict

Elsewhere in Super League though, some other teams haven’t been as lucky, with Warrington Wolves one team to have a player charged.

In their game with Bradford Bulls, James Bentley was sin-binned for an old-school ‘chicken wing’ style tackle on Waqa Blake. As a result, the MRP have given him a Grade C charge and 5 disciplinary points – enough to warrant a one-match ban.

St Helens had two players sin-binned in their game, with Jack Welsby sent for 10 minutes after a shoulder charge and Jackson Hastings reprimanded for a dangerous throw.

As a result, Welsby has been given a Grade C charge, not enough to warrant a ban, but Hastings will miss the next two games after being hit with a Grade D charge.

Castleford winger Semi Valemei will miss the next three matches after making contact with an injured player – that is the only other ban to come from this week’s games.

However, a further nine players have been hit with charges. Eribe Doro of Bradford, Lachlan Lam of Leigh and Ethan O’Neill of Hull FC have all been hit with Grade A late contact on passer charges, whilst Catalans’ Ben Condon and Saints’ Matt Whitley have suffered a Grade B dangerous contact charge.

York’s Keiran Hudson has landed a Grade C head contact charge, whilst Toulouse trio Olly Ashall-Bott, Cesar Rouge and Jake Shorrocks have all been given Grade B’s by the Match Review Panel.
