Monday has rolled around again, which can only mean one thing: the Match Review Panel have made their Super League disciplinary decisions after Round 18.
Last week, we saw four players given bans, with Andre Savelio and Sam Hewitt of Huddersfield Giants both given two-game bans, while Edwin Ipape of Leigh Leopards and Adam Keighran of Wigan Warriors were handed one-game bans.
However, Adam Keighran’s ban was successfully overturned on appeal and he was free to play against Hull FC.
This week, the action started on Friday night, and despite two players banned for this one, Huddersfield Giants shocked Salford Red Devils 16-8.
Brad Singleton’s high shot was of particular interest to the Panel in this one.
Elsewhere on Friday night, Warrington Wolves inflicted further pain for St Helens, who have now lost four games in a row due to their 24-10 defeat, while Leigh Leopards defeated London Broncos 36-6.
Sadiq Adebiyi for London Broncos was punished with a sin-bin for a late hit on Gareth O’Brien.
Warrington did it even after a red card for James Harrison for a high shot, which was always likely to have repercussions from the Panel.
On Saturday, Hull FC produced another shock as they found just their third win of the season in a 24-22 thriller against Wigan Warriors, and Hull KR defeated Leeds Rhinos 20-12 in Brad Arthur’s first Super League game.
Wigan’s defeat also saw a tip tackle from Tyler Dupree, which saw him yellow-carded, but Davy Litten was also yellow-carded for a high shot after a break from Jack Farrimond in the dying embers of the game.
Finally, on Sunday, Craig Lingard’s Castleford Tigers won their third game on the bounce as they defeated Catalans Dragons 24-18.
