Super League confirms that exciting youngster set to see specialist

No team wants to lose their halfback but that is the fate that befell Leeds Rhinos after their defeat to Leigh Leopards.

After the game Rohan Smith confirmed the loss of Aidan Sezer.

He said: “He suffered a really deep dead leg, contusion, really deep in his quad to a point where he was in a bad way at halftime and couldn’t really move.

“It is going to be a few week injury. Sometimes those bleeds become really deep and they become quite serious injuries.”

Matters got worse when like for like replacement and promising youngster Jack Sinfield failed his Head Injury Assessment last week against Salford Red Devils.

Smith though said after the game: “We have some versatility and some options there in our roster, it is about who is playing rather than who isn’t.”

Today, he has confirmed that Sinfield is set to see a specialist to confirm that he is okay:

“Jack was a bit bashed up after the game, his nose and his lip were a bit sore. In Saturday afternoon he was fine.

“He sees a specialist tomorrow I believe to cover that but he has had no symptoms or major issues following that.”

When asked about whether Richie Myler or Morgan Gannon could replace Sinfield in the halves, Smith said:

“They’re is a good chance of both things happening, we could possibly see both of those things happening in the game.”

Smith confirmed that Derrell Olpherts could return to the 17 as he said the injury to James McDonnell wasn’t serious and should be “short term.”
