Super League coach says star player could win Man of Steel

Jordan Abdull was sensational last night.

He kicked Leeds Rhinos to death from start to finish as Hull KR defeated last year’s Grand Finalists 20-12 with two of their three tries coming directing from his kicks.

Speaking after the game, his coach Willie Peters pushed for him to be considered by Shaun Wane for an England call up.

“He has played there before and he wants it again,” Peters said on Sky Sports of Abdull’s England chances with the test against France this month.

“I will always back my players and he has put his hand up, he could win Man of Steel but he just needs to keep his head down and keep being consistent week in, week out.

“His head is right, his body is right and is playing well and I am sure Shaun Wane is taking note.”

Abdull previously played for England in 2021 after being nominated for the Man of Steel award that season.

He currently has nine Man of Steel points, the second most in the league, but after last night seems destined to get three more.

He is also keen to show Shaun Wane what he can do saying on Sky Sports:

“I have pretty much missed the last three games, my focus is playing consistently. I think I showed in the first three rounds I mean it this year.”

Fellow Man of Steel front runner George Williams of Warrington Wolves will also be well in the mix after starring for England in the World Cup last year but the pair could make a perfect partnership.
