Super League side could complete immediate signing

Clubs like Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Hull FC have all made big transfer announcements.

The Rhinos have drafted in Mickael Goudemand from Catalans Dragons with fellow Catalans forward headed to Wigan in Tiaki Chan.

However, Leeds know all about losing a player to Wigan with Sam Walters headed there. He will be joined by his former teammate and former Huddersfield Giants star Kruise Leeming.

Speaking of NRL signings, Warrington drafted in Lachlan Fitzgibbon for the new season but Hull KR haven’t waited to bring in an NRL signing with Brad Schneider signing immediately.

However, on the other side of Hull they have allowed an immediate exit.

The Black and Whites have now let go of another man though this time immediately with Josh Griffin let go this week to join Wakefield.

On signing for the club, Griffin said: “Wakefield was the obvious choice for me, I was lucky enough to make my first team debut there at 17.”

“My goals are to help the club and team out in any way that I can, I will help prepare the boys for the upcoming games.”

“I’ll be working hard until I’m available to play again and I’ll make sure to hit the ground running. There’s plenty of competition for places in the back row, which is only a good thing.”

Griffin will be available for the huge game against Castleford Tigers but highlighted the importance of being focused on the present, “The Cas game is massive, but I also think every game is just as important. Winning three out of the last four, the momentum is with us but it’s important not to look too far into the future and just concentrate on the next game.”

Trinity Head Coach Mark Applegarth is delighted with the signing saying, “I’m delighted we have secured Josh’s services for the rest of this year and next. Not only is he a top quality Super League player, he’s a great person who will help drive standards up in training.”

“I’m looking forward to him joining up tomorrow. He’s a strong runner of the ball and hopefully he will continue his great form that he was in before his ban.”

This appears to be the last signing Wakefield will make with Mark Applegarth making a recruitment update on BBC Radio Leeds: “Never say never. We’re quite content, unless we get some mad injuries which have been happening throughout this year, but we’re more than content that if we get some bodies back and we’re getting a fully fit and healthy squad we’ve got a lot of fire power to choose from there.

“But the main thing is keeping everybody fit and healthy, that’s the biggest thing. You’ve got to keep your best players on the field, especially with these nine games coming up.”
