There have been a number of star halfbacks in Super League such as Blake Austin at Leeds Rhinos, Harry Smith at Wigan Warriors, George Williams at Warrington Wolves and of course Hull FC star Jake Clifford.
Clifford is headed to the NRL however according to reports with former club North Queensland Cowboys activating his NRL release clause.
This will see him leave the Black and Whites after only one year of his two year deal.
Meanwhile, Aidan Sezer of Leeds Rhinos and Brodie Croft of Salford Red Devils have been linked with a move to Wests Tigers.
But one of the standouts has been Lachlan Lam at Leigh Leopards who has fired the club to success in 2023.
However, there have been talks of NRL interest including reported talks with Canberra Raiders coming from Zerotacke.
Adrian Lam has been open in the past about his son’s desire to return to the NRL and he may have the opportunity to do so with the Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in the halfback and according to Zero Tackle the club have held talks with Lam.
The Raiders want Lam to replace the departing Jack Wighton.
Lam also starred for Papua New Guinea in the Rugby League World Cup.
Last week though Adrian Lam has given an update on the situation around his son and star player on the club’s YouTube channel revealing talks between Lachlan Lam and Director of Rugby, ex-Wakefield Trinity boss Chris Chester:
“Yeah it’s on par. The weeks fly by at the moment and before you know it the next week is here and we’re up to round 18 now, so it’s all flying by.
“Chris Chester is doing a good job there and I’m sure that will all get sorted pretty soon.”
Now a further update has come from Adrian Lam as he confirmed talks between Chris Chester and his son.
“That’s ongoing so hopefully there will be some news about that in the near future,” he said on the club’s YouTube Channel.
“Not only with him, but with a few other players that we have at the club. We’ve got to make sure we finalise deals and there’s players from the outside that we are trying to bring in that we’ve got to finalise. So it’s ongoing.
“That’s Chris Chester’s job, so he’s doing a good job with all of that.”
