Super League coach makes relegation admission

There is a lot of talk about the relegation battle, especially as it could be the last traditional relegation battle.

It is discussed who is actually in this relegation battle.

It seemed Hull FC were in the battle until their recent run of form has them out of it leaving Castleford Tigers the club closest to Wakefield Trinity with four points separating the bottom two.

Now Castleford coach Andy Last has admitted the Tigers are in a relegation scrap.

“Yeah it’s quite obvious that we are isn’t it?” he said when asked on BBC Radio Leeds.

“There’s two teams that have just two wins and are cut adrift from everybody else.

“I think what’s important to understand is that there are still a lot of games to go.

“Wakefield will be positive thinking that they can get a couple of results, I’m positive that we can as well.

“There’s some periods in the games that we’ve played this year that if we could piece together for longer then we’ll win some games, and we’re confident we’ll win more games.

“I think Hull FC are an example, four weeks ago they were below us in the table and coming off a derby-day mauling then all of a sudden they pick up three wins.

“They get Huddersfield on a good day, Wigan on a good day and then they beat Wakefield and now they’re looking up the table.

“As quickly as things can unravel you can also gain some momentum by picking up a couple of wins so we’re confident that we’ll be able to do that.”
