Super League coach issues ominous warning about further signings

Only a few teams are in a position where they can sign players.

Leigh Leopards’ owner Derek Beaumont has routinely said they’re on the look out for players whilst Salford Red Devils have a quota spot available.

But the club in the best position with cap space and two quota spots is the Catalans Dragons.

Despite plenty of injuries, the Dragons were able to defeat Wakefield Trinity to start the season but after the game coach Steve McNamara ominously warned their rivals that they will add to their squads “at the right time.”

“Yes, we’re still in the market for a couple of players. We have cap space, we obviously have quota spots.

“For me it was really important that we know that we have got that but that we offer opportunities to some of our other players as well.

“We need to do that as a club and give them an opportunity, people like Cesar Rouge who didn’t get that level of opportunity last season but we will strengthen we will do it at the right time.

“We respect the players we have, they get the first opportunity. We will only add at the right time.

“Those French players have come off a World Cup, not had a long break and have attacked it with great enthusiasm.

“We have to keep working hard, with everyone, it’s Round One so there is a long way to go.”
