Super League coach confirms starlet has likely played his last game as exit looms

Exciting young forward Owen Trout was one of the most sought after players once May kicked in and clubs could approach their tragets.

A product of the Leeds Rhinos academy, Trout joined Huddersfield Giants in 2020 and has established himself as one of the best up and coming middles.

This is why there is huge demand in the young forward across Super League from the likes of Leigh Leopards, Hull FC and others.

He has turned down an extended deal at Huddersfield and his season is now over with a season ending injury as revealed by a scan.

The Giants said:

“Owen Trout has confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the 2023 season with an injury, following a scan.”

This likely meant that he has played his last game for the club and Ian Watson sadly confirmed that that was the case today.

“Unfortunately that looks like it is the case,” Watson said.

“He is a great bloke, I had a good chat with him the other day actually and that he was alright.

“He is alright, he is obviously alright, he is obviously likely not going to play again this year and he has got to go through an operation to make sure he is fixed up and he is pretty level headed.

“The good thing is, he has his future sorted out. That will become clear as we go forward but with his future sorted out that is probably one worry off his mind.

“He he had just done his ACL and didn’t have his future sorted that could be an uncomfortable time for a young player like Owen.

“He knows what he is doing and where is going and we fully support him on the back of that.

“So he just needs to focus on his recovery and we will support him in that.”
