Super League coach confirms rivals approach for forward

There were rumours recently that struggling Wakefield Trinity were interested in signing Castleford Tigers star Adam Milner.

Now, speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Interim Castleford boss Andy Last confirmed the club’s West Yorkshire rivals made a move for the versatile forward.

He said:

“They enquired a couple of weeks ago but it was something that was more or less dropped onto my table the week I took charge. I think it was leading into the Huddersfield game.

“At that time Paul McShane wasn’t playing, the strength of Adam is that he’s a competent nine, competent in the back row and competent at 13. So it didn’t fit at the time.

“Adam’s come in and done a really good job. He was our player of the match against Leeds, he really went after the opposition and then he backed it up against Warrington.

“Unfortunately he copped a two game ban which impacted on the momentum he was building in the team but he’s someone who I’ve got a lot of respect for, and it’ll be good to see Adam back in that 17 this week.

“Not moving to Wakefield, no.”

Wakefield have currently got three players on loan from Huddersfield Giants and swapped Corey Hall for Hull KR’s Will Dagger after being turned down by Leeds Rhinos in a loan enquiry for Luke Hooley.
